transfer domain
-
Hi there,
I cancelled my domain triggerhappytravel.com with word press.com because i want to transfer it to a 3rd party hosting company. On their end it says the domain is not available. Could you help me with this?
Thanks,
Daniel

Hi @triggerhappytravel, you’ll want to transfer it instead of canceling it. I was luckily able to un-cancel it for you, so you can use these steps to start your transfer:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/You might also consider pointing it to your new host first, since the transfer can take a little while:

Hi there,
Thanks for the response. Now I have a 60 days waiting period again before I can transfer. Can this be waved in light of the circumstances?

REGISTRAR TRANSFER DENIED
==========================================Dear Daniel Reynolds,
The transfer you requested has been declined because you opted-in to a transfer lock for 60 days when you agreed to the WordPress.com Change of Registrant policy.
For security reasons, when you change the registrant’s first name, last name, or organization name, you consent to a 60 day lock on transferring the domain name. Because you have provided your consent, Section 3(6) of the ICANN Policy on Transfer of Registration between Registrars permits us to decline your transfer request.

@triggerhappytravel it can’t, sorry about that. We don’t have control over the rules of transfers. You certainly can point to your new host though:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/Then your site will start working at the new host right away, and you’ll be able to transfer the domain when the 60 days are up.

No problem thanks for the rely. Once I have pointed to my new host, should I re-lock the domain or re-set the privacy settings to private on wordpress.com interface?
Thanks,
Daniel

@triggerhappytravel you don’t have to unlock the domain or disable privacy to change its nameserver settings. I’d wait on that til you are fully able to transfer.
