  i want to transfer my current domain and use wordpress, what is the difference?

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  Hi there,

  Can you tell me the domain you want to transfer? And do you already have a site, or are you planning to start a new site with us?

  The forum you’re posting to now is for WordPress.com, the hosting provider. We’re not the same thing as WordPress, the software, but you’ll be using that software to create your site with us.

  To get started on a new site, go to https://wordpress.com/start/site/ and follow the steps there. On the domains step you can choose to use your own domain, and select the domain transfer option. Note that you’ll also need to upgrade to a paid plan.

  You can also use the WordPress software at another host, like Bluehost or Pressable. In that case you’ll be using the open source version made on WordPress.org, and you’ll need to contact your preferred hosting provider directly for their process for installing that software on their servers.
