Hello there, if you just recently purchased the domain, you’re not able to transfer it within 60 days. It’ll be great if you could share us the domain name for our checking as well.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/
So if your domain is less than 60 days old, you could map the domain to the site on WordPress.com with an upgraded plan.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
And if you still wish to transfer your domain from GoDaddy to WordPress.com, you may do so after your domain reaches 60 days old. Transferring domain and domain mapping will require an upgraded plan.
Note: Do not cancel your domain on GoDaddy before the transfer, it’ll make the transfer process becomes complicated and will cause unwanted delays in the transfer process.
Do let us know if you have more questions, we’ll be glad to help.

Thanks for the reply.
My domain is perusejunction.com.
Its new and not 60 days old.
So after 60 days, if I wish to transfer to WordPress, I will have to get a paid plan? Also is there any other way to connect domain without paying?

Yes, you’re right. According to the article I included above on domain transfer, you need an upgraded plan in order to do that.

For domain mapping, you still need an upgraded plan.
Anyway, I’m adding the modlook tag to seek advice from the Staff on the most cost-effective way to host your site on WordPress.com with your domain perusejunction.com.

Hi –
The domain can be used now with WordPress.com through domain mapping. This is different than an actual transfer.
Step One: Add a plan to your WordPress.com user account. Those are at https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Step Two: Initiate the domain mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ You’ll go to My Sites- Domains- Add
Step Three: Ask GoDaddy to update the name servers so that the domain points to WordPress.com. Those details are in that guide linked to Step Two.
If you want, once the domain is 60 days old you can transfer it to us. It’s not required though in order to use the domain on our service. I hope that helps.
