  Transferring from Squarespace to WordPress, can I keep my Squarespace domain and have it for my WordPress site?

  Hi there,

  You absolutely can! What I would suggest is to create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a .wordpress.com subdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain as you build the site and use that as a placeholder until you’re ready to move your domain from Squarespace over to the new site. The site starts off private until you are ready to launch it.

  Once you are done developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain, connect the domain currently hosted with Squarespace, or register a new one.
  
  To note, a paid plan will be needed to use your domain with your WordPress.com site.
