transfer domain

    Hi there

I got a response below regarding my domain name that is registered elsewhere. I want wordpress to be my one stop shop.

What are some ways around this so that I can get wordpress to be my domain register as well.

Can I un register my domain name with the old registerer then register it with wordpress?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Farzana,

One point of clarification on this:

I would like to change things so that wordpress is my domain register (which I saw I get free with the $99 yearly I pay) and also farzanagounder.com points to my new wordpress premium that I paid for.

WordPress.com does not accept incoming domain transfers, meaning we can’t make WordPress.com your registrar for farzanagounder.com. We can register new domains, transfer them out, but we can’t transfer them in.

That said, you can use your domain credit from WordPress Premium to either register a new domain or you can use it to map your existing domain to your WordPress.com site, we just can’t take that existing domain (farzanagounder.com) into our registry.

That said, you just need to get the name servers for farzanagounder.com pointed at:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM NS2.WORDPRESS.COM NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

with your current registrar and all will work! More can be found on that here.

    Thanks!

Hi Farzana, I think it’s best if you send your question above to Nick. He probably can answer and help you the most (as knowing the whole context).

Please note that Nick was right in that we do not accept incoming domain transfers, and that it would be best to keep your domain at your registrar and just point it to us.

Please do not cancel your domain and try to re-register through us because the domain is not released right away. Sometimes it can take months for the domain registrar to release it, and even then it could be bought up within seconds of it’s released. Once that happens, the domain is no longer yours and there is nothing we can do about it.

I only recommend canceling a domain name if you are sure that you never want to use it. If you want to use it, please keep it with your registrar and just point it to us.
