Transfer Domain from GoDaddy to WordPress.com, there should not be a charge

  How do I reach a human?
  I’m in the process of working on transferring the domain from GoDaddy to WordPress.com, it shows a $12 transfer fee, based on our plan (Creator) and that we have no used the free domain the bot said/texted that the $12 charge shown is a glitch and that I needed to work with a human. It is my understanding this long chat/text will connect me with a human

  In starting the transfer process from GoDaddy to WordPress.com, WordPress shows a $12 transfer fee, which the bot shows should should not apply because of our plan (Creator) and that we have not used the free domain included with your plan.

  Hi there,

  Currently, the domain transfer for your GoDaddy domain is being added to cart under your WordPress.com account caldercalder4, however the Creator plan subscription is owned by another account on the bvgardenclubdotorg.wpcomstaging.com site.

  For the domain credit to be used for your domain transfer, the domain transfer would need to be initiated by the account that owns the Creator plan.

  Hello @caldercalder4,
  
  If you already own a domain name with another provider like GoDaddy, you can use that domain with your WordPress.com site. Connecting (also called “mapping”) a domain to WordPress.com is free with any paid WordPress.com plan.

  where can I unlock my domains on the word press website so I can trans fer them to host gator. So far it’s like word press doesn’t want you to find the answer. I’m thinking class action suit. Please advise

  Hi @caldercalder4,

  When you transferred your domain to other registrar, your domain will be automatically renewed for 1 year. So, that is fee to renew your domain name, not domain transfer fee. In case your don’t want to transfer your domain, you can always point your domain to your hosting provider name server in order to host your domain. Hope this helps!
