I created this new site within my account and I need to have my domain happycatsretreat.com to point to happycatsretreat2023.wordpress.com. Right now it is pointing to happycatsretreat318590118.wordpress.com. How can I do this? I tried to transfer but transfer option does not appear when I go to domains.

Hey there,
Happy to help you with this.
I can’t see that the domain happycatsretreat.com is pointing to happycatsretreat318590118.wordpress.com, which is on this account.
I can see the domain is pointing to another site, on another account – https://happycatsretreat.com/
Do you have access to the above account?
Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response. I can see the account on my client’s “MySites” page. But when I go to pages, I don’t see the actual content that is showing up on the live sight. Someone else set this site up several years ago and my client wanted a refresh. I set up a new template design which is the happpycatsretreat2023.wordpress.com. How can I get happycatsretreat.com to show the new template design I created?

Hi there,
To clarify, you are trying to essentially replace the old site with the new one, but keep the address (happycatsretreat.com) the same, yes?
If so I think the easiest way to do this will be to invite your client as an Administrator on happycatsretreat2023.wordpress.com. You can do that here: https://wordpress.com/people/new/happycatsretreat2023.wordpress.com
Once they accept the invite, the site will show up under their account. From there, they can contact priority support (they have live chat access due to the Premium Plan on their account) and then staff will be able to move the Plan and domain from the current site to the new one.
Once that happens, when people visit happycatsretreat.com they will see the new site you created instead of the one that is there now.

Live chat is not an option given to this account. When I go to contact support it only allows me to post in this forum. I added myself as admin. My client is already set as admin. Neither accounts allow me to move the domain name. How can we get WordPress support to do this for us? Should he just purchase another domain. Only problem with that is that the old site will still be there and if I delete it will it cancel the domain as well? Please help!

Hi there,
To clarify, your client has the Premium Plan and access to priority support. You do not have access to live chat, so it would be them who would need to reach out for assistance with the upgrades.
Alternatively, if your client posts in this thread to confirm ownership of the upgrades, we (forum staff) can move the Plan and domain from the current site to the new one ourselves.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks! -
Just so you know I am using his login with his permission. He is not technical and asked me to assist with getting this transferred to the new template. My client is Doug Horton. He told me he pays for the domain happycatsretreat.com annually. We just need you to transfer this please. This getting frustrating and he wants his new site showing up. He has marketed the domain name everywhere on social media and Google so, getting a new domain name is not an option. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE JUST MOVE THIS DOMAIN OVER???

Hi there!
Thanks for reaching back out.
We can’t move the domain
happycatsretreat.comwithout first verifying ownership of this domain. This domain is owned by a different WordPress.com account than the one you are reaching out to us as today. Are you able to access the WordPress.com account that ownshappycatsretreat.com? If so, please log into that account and we’d be happy to walk you through this. Once you log into that account, we can sort this out via live chat. Live chat can be accessed on that account at https://wordpress.com/help/contactAlternatively, you can have the owner of this domain log into their account and follow this guide to transfer the domain to your account:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
Once the domain is transferred to you, you can move the domain to the new site by following:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/move-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-site/
Let me know if you have any questions.

Is Keiko Douglas the name associated with the site? The username that was set up through Keiko is the (email visible only to moderators and staff) and that is the username and associated passoword I am using to log in. What other verification do you need?
-
So I was just told that Naomi Mikami is the original person who set up this account. If we can’t get in touch with her will you be able to help us? Again, the login information should be the same.

Hi @happycatsretreat , it’s not under the email address you mentioned, but perhaps someone used a different address when setting it up? Whoever it is, they’re getting the renewal reminders and whatnot. I’d recommend having each person check their emails for messages from WordPress.com, particularly any regarding purchases. Then, they can log in with that address.
Alternatively, they could use the transaction ID from a recent purchase to regain access. Here’s how to find that. Don’t share it here in the forum, but they can use it on our secure recovery form.
-
Also @happycatsretreat, you could look at a blog post on the site to see if the name there would help.

What would happen if I delete https://happycatsretreat318590118.wordpress.com/? Will the domain name automatically point to https://happycatsretreat2023.wordpress.com/?

Hi there,
it’s not possible to redirect a site once it is deleted. A deleted site will show a “site not found” error message of some kind.
If you wish to redirect traffic, you can do that by adding it here: https://wordpress.com/domains/add/site-redirect
This will redirect one site to another for a period of one year. That is usually sufficient for anyone to have updated their bookmarks (and for Google to update it’s search index) so after that time it’s usually safe to delete the original site and let the redirect expire.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
