Transfer domain from Wix
-
Hi there,
I’ve tried to transfer my domain purchased from Wix ( http://www.duoklier.com) to WordPress. We also purchased the domain mapping successfully but my DNS need to be updated and I can’t change the name servers from Wix. I’ve been searching information in forums and contact-support but this is all that I’ve found (reply from wix team):

Hi,
Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the Name servers of a domain which was purchased from Wix.
Please note: If you have a Wix domain, click here for instructions on how to transfer it to a different host.
Once you will transfer your domain to a domain hosting company you will need to ask your domain host to change the Name Servers of your domain.
Thank You,
Dina.In case I need to transfer my domain to a different registrar, and then mapping from WordPress there, which one should I pick to make sure it is compatible with wordpress? and does it cost any money? I’m already paying Wix for the domain and wordpress for mapping, a third paymentt would be too much…
Thanks in advance for your help :)

Howdy,
Virtually all domain registrar should allow for a nameserver change. Personally, I have used namecheap.com in the past. If you have a particular registrar you’d like to use, feel free to ask me and I’ll confirm they’ll work.
With transferring your domain name to a different registrar, what actually happens is you renew your domain name for another year with the new registrar, then the registration with the original registrar (Wix) drops of their system.
In other words, you’ll make a payment to transfer, but that would extend your domain’s expiration date by a year (so no extra money spent, just perhaps a few months earlier than expected), and, moving forward, you wouldn’t need to pay Wix for the domain any longer.
If that doesn’t make sense or you need anything, please let me know!
