transfer domain from Wix

Hi There,
I tried following the steps you outlined (from WordPress) as to how to move my domain … changing the name servers to point to WordPress’s servers. However, When I went to manage my domain and transfer it to you from Wix, they just sent me an email stating:
“To complete the switch to your new registrar, please use the transfer code below within the next 7 days. Copy this code into the required field with your new registrar, and your domain transfer will be completed.”
I have the code, but am having a hard time seeing where that code is to be pasted to complete the transfer? These seem like conflicting directions? Help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m sorry, but I think there has been a bit of confusion. The support team at Wix must have mistaken updating the nameservers to actually transferring the domain registration to us. While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names.
Therefore, we recommend that you keep the name registered at Wix and just update the nameservers to us. You can use the domain for your site here at WordPress.com by mapping the domain, as explained here:

Our nameservers are:
- NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
- NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
If they can’t map your domain via nameservers, it’s possible to do it via A-records (IP Addresses). We don’t have a single IP address for your site since we have your site on a number of geographically-diverse servers to improve speed and uptime.
Since we change out the IPs we use based on when different datacenters/server go online, we don’t suggest using IP addresses, but if this is the only option, you can do this as well.
If you still want to go ahead and map your domain using A records, please be sure to create at least two, pointing to the two IPs from the list below.
- 192.0.78.12
- 192.0.78.13

Thank you so much for your response. I think I need to cancel my upgrade with WordPress then. Can you please let me know how to do that since I just signed up late last night to move my existing domain etc… sounds like I don’t need to do that so I don’t want to pay the $13 per month. Thanks

No problem at all. It has been canceled and refunded. Please note that it may take up to a week for the refund to show up in your bank account.
