Transfer domain Name

    I’m trying to customize a site with WordPress. I already own a domain name. It sounds like I have to remove the domain name from my current provider before I have approved and purchased a WordPress site. Doesn’t sound right to me.

    Hi, you don’t have to do that. You’re welcome to create your new site with us before pointing the domain here. That way your current site can stay “live” until your new one is ready.

    I do recommend getting a plan earlier on if you’ll need it, since they have other features you might find useful, including direct support:
    https://wordpress.com/plans

    Then just avoid using the domain options until you’re ready, and then you can map or transfer the domain.
