Transfer Domain Name for one wordpress site to a New site I will create
-
Hello,
Thanks for your help with this.
(I already have 5 wordpress blogs, but this situation
is different.)
Now, I want to:
1. Stop pointing tomsupercoach.com to Instamaxpro.com
2. create a new blog and have tomsupercoach.com be the URL
(sidenote: my URL tomsupercoach.com is hosted by Register.com)What are the steps and what order do I complete them in?
Thanks so much.
a great day,
TomThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Tom,
1. Stop pointing tomsupercoach.com to Instamaxpro.com
You would need to cancel Domain Mapping for tomsupercoach.com on instamaxpro.wordpress.com in order to do so.
2. create a new blog and have tomsupercoach.com be the URL
Once you have created your site, you can then use Domain Mapping to map tomsupercoach.com to your new site — the same process you have used for the rest of your domains.
Come back to me if you have any questions!

Thank you, Gemma.
I do not know how to “to cancel Domain Mapping for tomsupercoach.com on instamaxpro.wordpress.com in order to do so.”
the best to you,

Hi Tom,
Domain Mapping for tomsupercoach.com can be cancelled from your Manage Purchases page:
https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/
When you click on the purchase, you should see the option to cancel it.
If you have any problems, come back to me and I’ll be happy to do it for you :)

Gemma,
How long does it take for the cancelled tomsupercoach.com to become free for my new blog?Thank you.
a great day,
Tom -
Gemma,
Thanks for your guidance so far.I’ve waited more than 40 minutes and still I cannot map tomsupercoach.com (which I cancelled) to the new blog I am creating.
The message is “This domain is already mapped to a WordPress.com site.”This is a real problem.
I cannot set up the web pages that will get me coaching clients. Thanks for your help with this.
the best to you,
Tom -
Gemma,
I see that the message is that tomsupercoach.com is going to remain mapped until Nov. 2017 [even though I pressed “cancel.”]
That is exactly what we do Not want.
It seems that you’re going to need to take action to correct this situation.
Thanks so much.
joy and fulfillment,

Hi Tom,
When I checked your account, Domain Mapping for tomsupercoach.com hadn’t been cancelled. I’ve just done that for you.
Which of your sites do you want to map this domain too? Let me know and I’ll add it for you.

Gemma,
Thanks for your help.So I went to add the domain tomsupercoach.com
And I again got this message (today 2/2/17 at 7:44 pm): “This domain is already mapped to a WordPress.com site.”
I’m getting concerned.
I’m not able to move forward.Thank you for solving this situation as soon as possible.
the best to you, Gemma,

Hi Tom,
And I again got this message (today 2/2/17 at 7:44 pm): “This domain is already mapped to a WordPress.com site.”
That message is appearing because I had already mapped tomsupercoach.com for you. If you also tried to map it, you wouldn’t have been able to because it was already mapped to tomsupercoach.wordpress.com.
Now when you visit https://tomsupercoach.com/ you should see your WordPress.com site, so everything looks to be working as expected.
If you are having any problems, please clear your browser cache; sometimes it can remember an ‘old connection’ between a domain and site. There are some instructions here:
Hope that helps.

Gemma,
I hear you.
Somehow, when I looked earlier — the mapped tomsupercoach.com would not show.
Then, perhaps, an hour or two later is showed and I was able (per the instructions) designate it as “primary domain.”Thanks for all of your efforts.
This is great. I had a meeting some hours from now
and I can show the progress.
This is really good for the team morale.I deeply appreciate your help and efforts.
many blessings,
Tom -

Hi Tom,
Yes, sometimes it takes a little while for the settings to update, it’s likely you tried while the system was still working things out :)
I’m pleased we were able to get this sorted out in time for your meeting; hope it goes well.
You’re very welcome, come back to us any time.
All the best!
