Transfer domain name from godaddy to wordpress?
-
When I started a wordpress.com blog, the domain name “on-the-upbeat.com” was with godaddy, along with a longstanding website. WordPress issued me the blog name “on-the-upbeatblog.com” which has worked fine. But now that domain name is expiring, and I would like to know if I can transfer it directly to wordpress. Also whether it would be possible to import the website when it expires. I have cut all other ties to godaddy as they disappointed me greatly when they unceremoniously dumped their blog platform. Thanks for answers. carolang

Hey there, Carolan,
Thanks for getting in touch. While we register new domains here at WordPress.com, we’re not able to accept incoming transfers of existing domain names.
I do understand that you want to leave GoDaddy, however. We don’t necessarily endorse any domain registrars, but here are a list of the ones most popular with our users:
DreamHost
Rackspace
Register.com
1and1
BlueHost
YahooOnce you move your domain, you’ll map it to your WordPress.com site, just like you did with GoDaddy:
