transfer domain ownsership

  my domain name expires in a few days. I want to keep the domain, but having it point to my wordpress site hosted on my own server, not wordpress.com. I understand that right now that domain name cannot point to sites outside wordpress.com. What are my options? If I let it expire, I could buy it again from a service like godaddy.com, but it will be a while before it is available. Can I transfer ownership right now to my godaddy.com account?

  DON’T LET IT EXPIRE – very bad and you might loose the domain name forever or have it bought and held hostage

  You can transfer to another registrar if you want – but easier to just change the name servers to point to your new host – see below

  Hi there!

  Your help would be much appreciated, please!
  I am trying to transfer my domain to wix.com – I have gotten throught almost all the steps but suddenly got stuck at “Send the transfer registration code EPP code”.

  I’ve followed all of the instructions, however, in my domain admin account I do NOT see the same box shown to me here in this link:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/#unlock-the-domain

  How can I get to it? I’ve tried everything and clicked everywhere. Have the settings changed since??

  I just need to get this code to complete my transfer.
