Transfer domain registration to WordPress as registrar?
-
When we started our Premium WP blog a few months ago, we already had our domain registered to another registrar. It’s expiring very soon and we’d like to transfer to WordPress as our registrar. How do we do that?
Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

re: mapping an existing domain
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#transferring-a-domain-to-wordpress-com but mapping an existing domain is possible.Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made, it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.
Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.
In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.
If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
P.S. Please do not tag threads with modlook when the answers are already found in the support docs at http://support.wordpress.com

Thank you. We have already mapped the custom domain with WP.
P.S. I searched like heck and dug through support pages and did not find what you found!!! That’s why I tagged with modlook – our domain is expiring shortly and I felt it was urgent.
Thank you.

Stop posting copy and paste modlook threads here.
I answered you correctly more than once now:

Wow, your tone seems angry.
I’m not sure what you mean by “stop copying and pasting modlook threads.”
All I did was copy and paste the search results that I got looking for the information. Your posts today seemed condescending, as though I were a newbie who had not looked anywhere for the information before posting a support request, when in fact I spent about half an hour digging around the WordPress.com website looking for the information.
Somehow, my browser posted a duplicate request for help on this topic. I’m sorry if that frustrated you, but it was completely an accident and I seem to have no way of deleting the duplicate thread.
My response (actually, the copied and pasted information below my response) was merely to show that I did in fact search on terms that I thought were relevant, and received a very irrelevant series of results from the forum search.
In the past, you have been an extremely helpful user, so I’m not sure why I am frustrating you so much today. My humble apologies, and I hope your day goes better.

Thank you. We have already mapped the custom domain with WP.
There is no domain mapping upgrade for stcroixmontessori.com here at wordpress.com. If you would like to use this domain you will first need to set up domain mapping. There is information on how to set up domain mapping in our support documentation.
However the domain URL is purchased from https://who.godaddy.com/whoisstd.aspx?domain=stcroixmontessori.com&prog_id=GoDaddy&k=HHlIo7EdqJt%2f3X0fIxjiS6XM4HZkVeqgXri9HSCZbNywqvB%2f%20SYT7mBqw%2f%20LmC7AqTiJgQGVbn8%3d and that is where you need to renew the domain URL annually.

I am not angry at all. You created multple threads and posted confusing irrelevant stuff into them. Clearly you are confused as you purchased the domain URL from GoDaddy and do not understand that you have to (1) renew the purchase there annually and also (2) renew the domain mapping upgrade with WordPress.com annually.

Hi @artfarmllc, we can’t currently accept incoming domain transfers here, though, as you’ve found, we’re more than happy to let you map an existing domain.
You will need to continue to renew your domain every year with its current registrar unless at some point we get the ability to accept transfers here.
I’m going to go ahead and close this thread out. And sorry for the frustration, everyone. You will want to avoid opening multiple threads on the same topic — it just throws folks off. Thanks for understanding. :)
