Transfer Domain to WordPress.com

    Hi, I like to transfer my domain name to wordpress.com but wordpress domain section does not showing transfer option, the tutorials are outdated and does not matches with new UI. Please help!

    Hello,
    Aren’t you getting my issue? I followed the guide but the wordpress.com profile page has a new UI. The wordpress.com support guide is outdated.

    I neither see the buttons or options like I see in the guide on my WordPress Domains page.

    And after I click the Add a Domain option in the New UI, it leads me to type a domain name where I see no option to add my existing domain name.

    Please switch to a different site (top left corner) and then try to start the domain process. Here’s a direct link to that page:

    Update on Domain Transfer to WordPress.com

    As WordPress didn’t update their domain transfer guide yet and did not add a transfer option in new UI, here’s a quick solution that helped me to transfer my registered domain name to WordPress.com.

    I made a tutorial on a telegraph page and I write it here too incase the image links gets deleted please go through my beautiful well explained telegraph tutorial link attached below.

    INSTRUCTIONS AS FOLLOW :

    Step 1 –

    First go to this following link, you must login before then click on ” Switch Site ” Button in the top left corner – https://wordpress.com/domains/manage

    Step 2 –

    Now Click on ” ADD NEW SITE ” button

    Step 3 –

    You will land on a page where it asks you to enter your site name, click ” Skip for now ” button.

    Step 4 –

    You will see CHOOSE A DESIGN web page. Here, select start from scratch box.

    Step 5 –

    Now you will see choose a domain web page. Click on ” USE A DOMAIN NAME I OWN ” Button on the bottom.

    Step 6 –

    Next, you will be asked to type your existing registered domain name, type it click “Next ” button.

    Step 7 –

    If your domain is already registered you will be taken to a page named as “Use a domain that I own:registerdomainname.com”.

    Here on the Transfer your domain block, click “Select” button.

    Step 8 –

    You will be asked to Select a Plan, don’t worry just select a plan, you can delete this during checkout : ). I did the same thing.

    Step 9 –

    Now you will be taken to checkout page! On YOUR ORDER section click “Edit” button.

    Step 10 –

    On WordPress Plan section click “Remove from Cart”, this option will remove the plan you had chosen before and the domain transfer pricing will be updated.

    Step 11 –

    Congrats you lucky chick! click on save order and make the payment to start your domain transfer.

    Finally! That’s how you transfer a domain name to wordpress.com for now until the WordPress adds a domain name transfer to New UI.
