Transfer Domain to WordPress.com Personal Plan

    Hi,

I have an existing domain I purchased together with a hosting plan with Bluehost. Now, after a year, I would like to end my subscription with Bluehost and transfer to WordPress.com hosting through the Personal Plan subscription. Based on my web search, WordPress.com doesn’t accept incoming domain transfers from Bluehost. Is this correct? The information is a bit dated – written in 2012. So, I just want to be sure if things remains the same because I would like to have things cheaper with a free domain with WordPress.com Personal plan that is why I am asking. Also, does the free domain stays as long as I have a paid subscription with WordPress.com?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @joshuasevilla,

If you already have a domain and you want to use it with your WordPress.com blog, follow the instructions for mapping an existing domain. We do not currently support incoming domain transfers, but you can still get any domain to work with your WordPress.com blog.

As it’s mentioned in the WordPress.com support page, you can’t transfer your domain to WordPress.com even NOW.

And in terms of a free domain, you don’t need to have a paid subscription to use a free domain. A free WordPress.com comes with all plans including a free plan. Therefore, if you want the cheapest, you can run your site with a free plan.

    Thanks :)
