transfer domain within 60 days
-
Is there anyway to get around the 60 day minimum requirement to transfer domains from wordpress.com to wordpress.org (hosted through bluehost)? I was told by bluehost I would need to ask for a refund on my domain http://www.wigglesandwhimsyblog.com from wild west domains and then I guess repurchase it through blue host. Thanks! Lisa

Hi Lisa,
There are two ways you can Move Your Domain to Another Host. One option is to keep the domain registered where it is and point it to your new host, and the other option is to transfer the domain’s registration completely. You’ll need to wait at least 60 days for the second option, but you can do the first option now.
To point your domain to Bluehost, you can follow the steps in our guide to Change a Domain’s Name Servers. (You’ll need to check with Bluehost to see what name servers your domain should use.) If you have any questions about that process, please let me know!
By doing that, you won’t need to cancel your domain at all — you can point it to Bluehost now, and transfer it over completely after the 60 days are up. Canceling a domain is risky, since it can take a while for the domain to be released and there’s no guarantee you’ll get it back when you try to repurchase it, so I definitely recommend the options above instead. :)
