transfer domain within wordpress.com

I want to transfer my domain to a new wp.com site I made up, and delete the old site. however, the system says the new site must be a paid plan and cannot be my primary site which means it will still use the wordpress in the url. How do I get around this as I am an existing premium plan holder

We can help move the connection. Also, since you plan to delete the current site, would you prefer to also have your Premium Plan moved to the new site as well?
