Transfer existing Domain Name and register it with WordPress

  I currently own a Domain Name which is registered with another Registrar and has been used on my existing website, also hosted by that organisation. I would now like to know if I can transfer and register my Domain Name with WordPress so that I can use it on my new WordPress website, thus enabling me to close my account with the other Registrar. I understand that I can map the Domain Name across to my new WordPress website but am unsure if WordPress will act as Registrar for it. Many thanks for your help.

  Hi @peternclaridge – Currently, you are not able to transfer the registration of your domain into WordPress.com. You are able to use the domain name here. All you will need to do is complete Domain Mapping.

  So each year, you will need to renew your domain through the registrar and your Domain Mapping through WordPress.com.

  Many thanks Liz. I’ll probably register a new domain name through WordPress so that I can manage everything there rather than use a different registrar.
