Transfer existing domain to WordPress

  Why is it that this domain ‘can’t be transferred, but you can connect it instead’? Will this disadvantage me?

  Hi there:

  It depends on the domain you’re trying to use. Can you let us know what domain you’re trying so we can better advise?

  Otherwise, regarding connecting versus transferring – it’s more what you prefer.

  Connecting allows you to keep the domain registered with your current domain registrar and direct it to your WordPress.com site: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/

  A transfer would allow managing both your site and domain from the same place: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/

  Therefore it depends on whether or not you want to manage your domain separately from your hosting or if you want to manage both in the same place. In the end, the result is the same.
