transfer expired domain/contact WordPress

  I wish to transfer a domain which has expired with WordPress (but not with the registrars).
  Have contacted Wild West Domains for an EPP code in order to unlock the domain.
  They have told me they are unable to do so and told me to contact WordPress. The address they gave me is unmonitored.
  So how do I get in touch?

  Hi @dtni,

  You should never allow a domain to expire if you plan to use it again. There is no assurance if you can get it back. Here is a useful support document to explain you about Domain expiration:

  It hasn’t expired as such – only with WordPress if that makes sense. I tried to unlock it blah blah blah but Wild West have directed me back to WordPress.

  I’ve checked your account and loughneaghdevelopmenttrust.org expired on 23rd November 2017. Is this the domain you wish to transfer away from WordPress.com?

  That’s the one Gemma, but just want to reactivate it with WordPress not transfer away. Have contacted Wild West Domains (with whom the domain is registered until October 18) for an EPP code in order to unlock the domain – they said they couldn’t and gave me a support@wordpress address to contact you.

  Thanks for confirming. loughneaghdevelopmenttrust.org expired some time ago so it will need to restored before you can use it again.

  I can contact our domain provider and ask if it will be possible to restore the domain. However, it’s worth noting that if the domain enters the redemption period between now and then, an $80 redemption fee will need to be paid:

  The domain was registered through WordPress.com, so you can contact us directly for support :)

  An EPP code is the authorisation for your current register to transfer the domain away. If you don’t want to transfer the domain away, what are you plans? Do you just want to renew the domain and use it for your WordPress.com site?

  Well that’s what I don’t understand – Wild West have confirmed that the domain doesn’t expire until November 24th 2018
  But yes, we just want to use it for the WP site
  These are the servers that the domain name will need redirected towards:
  ns1.theflexstudio.com
  ns2.theflexstudio.com

  Hi dtni,

  Wild West have confirmed that the domain doesn’t expire until November 24th 2018

  When a domain expires, we temporarily renew it at the registry which is why there is a provisional expiry date of 24th November 2018. This is in place to give you plenty of time to renew before the domain fully expires or is auctioned off. However, the domain will be cancelled and released if it isn’t fully renewed.

  loughneaghdevelopmenttrust.org could go into redemption at any time now so I’ve emailed you a payment request for the domain cost and redemption fee.

  If the domain isn’t in redemption the $80 fee will be refunded in full. But if it is, it means we are in a position to recover it quickly.

  Once that has been paid, I can get the recovery process underway.

  Ok Gemma we obviously don’t want to let the domain go but is there any way of ascertaining if the domain isn’t in redemption?

  Ok payment on the way but a refund would be very much appreciated – there has been a changeover of staff recently which would explain how the domain expired in the first place
