Transfer followers
-
Hello, today I transferred from .com to the .org. I was curious if it would be possible to transfer my followers via email and wordpress.com to my new page? I posted in the forums and it was suggested to contact support. Thank you very much.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Great, thank you so very much.

I have migrated your subscribers and followers to your new site.
Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Thanks! I was just noticing as I added the statistic number to my page for the number of email followers and it showed “98”. Yet, when I look at my wordpress.com site it had previously showed “521”. I was just curious if subscribers and followers have been migrated to the new site, why wouldn’t the statistic show much greater than 98? I was just curious. Thanks, again.

We can only migrate email and WordPress followers. The count on the front page of WordPress.com sites includes Facebook and Twitter followers. If you reconnect your new site to those networks and continue promoting on them, the followers should still be there.

I have widgets for my social media connected and when posting on the new site my posts appear on my social media apps. It just does not make sense to me why the number is different. I believe the wordpress.org widget is through Jetpack.
Is there something specific I need to do to make sure this is all properly connected?
Much appreciated!

Jetpack connection only relates to the WordPress.com and email followers, which is what I transferred for you. The number displayed on the front of your WordPress.com page included both your Twitter and Facebook followers. You had over 450 twitter followers and over 100 facebook.
The Facebook subscribers were only listed because you had your WordPress.com set to Publicize to Facebook, but Publicize is not available on self-hosted WordPress.org blog, so this number was not transferred.
As you note, there are other plugins to help you post to social networks from a self-hosted .org site. But things do not work exactly the same as on WordPress.com.
Make sense?
