Transfer from Go Daddy – How to ?

How do I transfer my Bog I have had for almost 7 years to word press and another hosting service ?
Currently I am with Go Daddy, and find it a bit inflexible with options, and would like to see a blog writing / posting software that I can have a bit more options with photos, graphics, Video, text / font, html designing ability (customize site), etc.
Any ideas or suggestions ?

This forum is for wordpress.com, which offers simpler, hosted installs for free, as well as individual service upgrades for things like domain mapping and premium themes. You could have your current domain applied to a wordpress.com blog if you want to get started right away with very little setup!
What are you currently using to update your blog? That will determine how simple a process it will be to import your old content, or whether some manual work might be required.
