Transfer from WordPress Andreas09 to Andreas04
-
I’ve checked around for instructions for transferring blogs and posts, but did not find the answer to my situation.
I want to see how my Andreas09 blog will look in the Andreas04 blog before I make a switch. I know that if I switch around, sometimes the sidebars get messed up and I have to re-do them.
I had a blog (Electric Guitar blog) that I stopped adding to and now I want to use that blog for experimenting.
How can I transfer everything from my Andreas09 blog to my Experimental, existing WordPress Andreas04 blog?
The point is: I do not want to just activate the Andreas 09 blog to the Andreas04 blog without knowing exactly how it will look. For one thing, I want to see how the Andreas04 blog looks without that bright shiny white field in the center. (I like the bright white.) I like the neater look of Andreas04 (only one sidebar) but would have to get used to the duller text field.
Also: Does Andreas04 lack any of the features that 09 has? I figure it might…….. 8-(
If after i transfer the posts, comments, etc to Andreas04 and do not like it I do not want to have to re-do the Andreas09 blog. (I guess I’ve said that two times now….. but I feel jumpy about it!)
Thank you for your help.

You just sign in to the dashboard of the blog you’re talking about, go to Appearances->themes, and click on the theme you want to preview. It will come up as if your blog were already in it, and you can click around and see your pages and blogroll and everything, exactly how it would look when you apply it for real. Then, if you want, you hit the Activate button. If you don’t want it, you hit the X to close the pop-up.

No that is not what happened when I tried that a week or so ago. That is why I asked this in the forum. I tried the Activate feature with Andreas04 and ended up with problems in my double sidebars.
Now, those troubles might be fixed with a little planning, but seeing that done to my work my blog made me quit Andreas04 and return to Andreas 09. Thus I did not get a chance to see everything about that switch. I suppose I could have stuck around and tested everything out and then switched back to the original Andreas09, but I panicked.
I have tried out many templates with the Appearances > Themes process, but tht was when I had lttle to lose in the way of content. That is what makes this different for me.
