Transfer My Blog
-
I am in the process of transferring my blog to a self hosted site.
However I need advise on how to redirect the traffic / Search on the current blog to the new one. Essentially, i would need everyone searching for the old site/ posts to be directed to the new site.
I would also like to know how to keep the stats and subscribers.
Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
To redirect traffic, you need the Site Redirect upgrade:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/You can follow the instructions here to move your subscribers:

Hi,
For the stats, I will tag this for staff so they can move it for you. Please be patient as you wait for a response since full staff support won’t be back until September 24: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/full-staff-support-will-return-september-24?replies=1
Can you post here the website address of the two sites that you want to do the transfer for?

Dear Honeysilvas,
I have done a site redirect but notice a major problem. If someone tries to find a post I did let’s say in 2011, titled let’s say FASHION.
With the site redirect, a click on that link will take the person to the front page of the website and not the specific article being sought.
Pls advise on what can be done to link posts directly between both sites so that all posts can be easily found on the new website. Thank you

Hi,
When I click the links at the side (your recent posts), they do take me to the exact article being sought.
Can you post here an example of a link that redirects to the front page? (Post here the website address of the page you are linking from and the page you are linking to).
-
I was referring to a search on google for a post e.g.
With the site redirect in place, a search on google for the like above leads to the front page of the new site rather than the post on the new site.

What domains do you have listed when you to Store → My Domains? The first one should say “(Site Redirect)” after the domain name.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/#getting-startedYou can also update it like this to make sure you have it configured correctly:
-
Thank you for your response I read both links. However, the challenge seems to be that the site redirect, actually redirects the website but not the posts. That seems to be the reason why all links of the previous posts (on search engines) land on the front page of the new website and not the posts on the new website.
I would appreciate a solution to solve this problem.

Hi,
If you have the Site Redirect correctly, you need to change your Permalinks on the site for the posts.
So, for example, this link,
http://www.nigerianpraises.com/?p=793which needs to go to this link:
http://nigerianpraise.wordpress.com/2014/05/21/by-your-blood/should be the same format like this instead.
http://www.nigerianpraises.com/2014/05/21/by-your-blood/Read this for instructions on how to change the permalinks:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks -
I believe the correct permalink is the second option shown here:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Choosing_your_permalink_structure -
Thank you once again. But it looks extremely complicated. A few questions though
Will the changes be made on the .org or .com site?
Do I have to change the permalink for each post? I hope not
I also hope it can be done easily.
Once I get your response, I will attempt and revert to you
Thank you and you have been most helpful

Hi,
You change the permalinks on the .org (self-hosted site).
In your Dashboard, go to Settings → Permalinks, then choose the 2nd option.
This would change the permalinks for all the posts.
