Transfer my existing domain to WP

    Hi
    So I have already owned a domain but I haven’t bought any server for this domain, yet right now I want to design the whole website in WP and want a server, dose the plan ‘transfer a domain’ include the server service of the domain or do i need to pay extra fee for the server of the domain itself? Thank you.

    Hi there,

    You have two options,
    1. Transfer the registration.
    Your domain registration and billing will be moved from your current domain provider to WordPress.com. That means in future you’ll manage all aspects of your domain here, including renewal, cancellation, or a future transfer.

    2. Map the domain.
    Your domain registration will stay with your current provider, and you’ll point the domain to WordPress.com instead. Use this if your domain is less than 60 days old, or you have a domain extension that cannot be transferred to WordPress.com. The domain will show your WordPress.com site, and depending on how you point it here you’ll be able to set up email and manage your DNS via our domain manager, but you’ll still need to pay your current provider for the domain’s renewal every year.

    For above both options you will need have WordPress.com plan

    Once you transfer or map domain to WordPress.com you do not need to worry about severs, and you can work on designing your website.

    You don’t pay for the server at all on WordPress.com. If your site is with us we provide you with hosting for free.

    To transfer or connect your domain to a site hosted with us you need one of our paid plans, but you only pay for the features included in the plan, not for hosting.
