Transfer my Shopify site to WordPress

My team is looking to transfer our Shopify site over to WordPress to use with your Woocommerce plugin and want to know the best steps to take in doing this without disrupting the live version of our site. The domain name is registered through Google and our store content is published through Shopify at hanjijewelry.com.

    Hi there,

It sounds like you’d like to do a complete transfer of your site content and a domain transfer to WordPress.

This worksheet will give you a detailed outline of what that will look like and will help you to accomplish this along the way:
    https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/

Keep in mind, there are two flavors of WordPress: WordPress.com and WordPress.org. The .COM version is the fully supported version that allows for you to pay for a monthly or yearly membership so that you can have all the tools you’d need to keep your eCommerce site running as well as 24/7 live chat and email support.

The .ORG version offers the ability for you to build everything from scratch on the WordPress framework. This would be for those that know they want an advanced experience.

If you prefer to have support along the way as well as other features, follow the above worksheet to move your Shopify site to WordPress.COM.

    Thanks!

  • Hi there!

To add to what @jbeats1 wrote – you can keep working on your new, WordPress.com site and only map or transfer your custom domain when everything is ready for the switch.
That way, your visitors will keep using the old site while you work on the new one, and the change will be smooth.

Also, to use WooCommerce on WordPress.com, you’d need plan Business or eCommerce. You can read more about both plans here:
