  Hi @nicolemuskett, domains are registered for a year at a time, and there’s really no way of changing them after about 5 days after the purchase:
  https://wordpress.com/support/refunds

  What you can do though, is go ahead and buy a new domain now, and use this overlap in registration to help guide folks to your new site. When you have two domains on a single site, you can choose the new one as primary, and the other will 301 redirect to the new URL. Search engines will get the signal to update to your new address that way.
