Transfer of domain locked – renewal due but already paid at new company
-
This domain was recently transferred to me. It appears to be locked until November which is stopped me from transferring it to my webhost Dreamhost. I have already been charged to register this domain through Dreamhost.
The transfer failed due to this lock after I was changed to the administrator contact of the domain. Now my renewal is due on wordpress for this domain but I don’t want to renew with wordpress I want to move the domain to Dreamhost. Can I do this without having to pay to renew it here, then wait til November and move it to Dreamhost?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thanks very much for tagging it. I’m not really a wordpress user so I am not sure if I even posted this support request properly (or if I get support).

Hi there,
It looks like when the domain was transferred to you, the registration was not completed. If you would please log in here:
https://blythopia.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
and follow the guide on this page to update the registration and initiate the Transfer to Dreamhost:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/#domain-manager-login
If you have trouble with this please let me know.

Thank you Evan, I think the issue is that the contact information was changed to me before the transfer was attempted.
So now it appears to be locked until 13/11/13.
My domain runs out on 23/10/13 and I was hoping not to have to pay for the renewal through WordPress to keep the domain as I’ve already paid for it (in advance) at Dreamhost.
Is there any way to remove the lock until the 13/11/13 for the contact information having been updated? I’ve never heard of this before with other companies but have never dealt with wordpress for domains before.
Thanks again for your help.

I think I will just have to pay for it, then set the nameservers to Dreamhost and wait until November.

Hi,
The 60 day is a policy recommended by the organization that governs domains, ICANN, to prevent domain theft. I understand that it can be frustrating at times, however.
We can request that the lock be removed and in some cases it can be. If you would like me to do that, please let me know and I’ll look into it for you. :)
Best,
Evan
