    Hi!

The domain gerritdejager.com is mapped to your WordPress.com site, but it isn’t actually registered at WordPress.com. It looks like it’s registered at Realtime Register. Do you remember registering the domain there? If you would like to point the domain elsewhere, you will need to make the changes at Realtime Register.

If you do end up pointing the domain elsewhere, please let me know. I’m happy to remove the upgrades associated with stadsdorpspomp.wordpress.com shown here:

    https://stadsdorpspomp.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades

That way, you won’t be paying for upgrades if you’re not using them!

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Hi Jeremey!

I will be very obliged if you could point my domain http://www.gerritdejager.com to the site http://www.stadsdorpspomp.nl that is actually hosted by SiteGround. I would like to terminate the hosting of the remaining site at wordpress.com because i want to use plugins such as the one for articulate presentations. could you also tell me what i must do to achieve the termination? Thanks very much in advance!

    Hey there!

As Jeremey mentioned, gerritdejager.com isn’t hosted here at WordPress.com. If you want to point that domain to another site/host, you will have to do that with the domain registrar of gerritdejager.com. The public information for your domain will display your domain host:
    http://who.is/whois/gerritdejager.com

If you take a look at that link, you’ll see that your domain’s name servers for gerritdejager.com. That is indicated by the name servers NS1.wordpress.com and NS2.wordpress.com. You will need to go to your domain’s registrar and ask them to change your name servers so they point to your new host.

could you also tell me what i must do to achieve the termination?

You can also cancel your domain mapping upgrade here at WordPress.com. I’m happy to do that for you, if you give me permission. This domain mapping is no longer useful to you, if you plan to use your domain with a non-WordPress.com website.

Additionally, you can hide (recommended) or delete your WordPress.com site if you no longer want to use it. For information about how to accomplish this:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much!

    Thank you, Thatrobyn.

I checked before the registrat of my domain and they told me that i needed an EPP code to change the direction in which http://www.gerritdejager.com is pointing now. I may have given the wrong information because i thought that http://www.gerritdejager.com was linked to wordpress.com. I will contact them again.
Yes, I would appreciate if you could terminate the domain mapping to wordpress.com and delete the sites there. I have copied all the content to the sites at siteground. i was very satisfied with the service at wordpress.com. The only problem was that your organisation does not allow plugins for applications like Articulate. I understand that policy, but for me it is a disadvantage.

    Hi!

Just to recap the steps here:

    To cleanup your WordPress.com account…

    – I’ve removed the domain mapping for gerritdejager.com from the site stadsdorpspomp.wordpress.com

    – If you would like, I can also remove the Premium bundle from stadsdorpspomp.wordpress.com. If you’re going to have a self-hosted site moving forward, you will not need the bundle. Can you reply to confirm?

To get gerritdejager.com working with SiteGround…

You’ll need to change the “direction” of the domain at the domain registrar. It looks like the domain was registered through Realtime Register. Do you remember ever using that service?

To change the direction of the domain, you’ll need to change the name servers. Currently, they’re set to the following:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Per this document at SiteGround, it looks like the correct name servers would be:

    NS1.SITEGROUND.EU
    NS2.SITEGROUND.EU

This change would need to be made where you registered the domain, not at WordPress.com.

    Thank you Jeremey!

Sorry for the delay. I had to attend a meeting in Paris and spent some more days over there..

Please go ahead and remove the premium bundle from stadsdorpspomp.wordpress.com.

Does this mean that I no longer have any account at wordpress.com? That is my intention, as I explained before (satisfied with the service, but short on functionality for Articulate users).

I will contact the registrar of the domain gerritdejager.com as indicated.

Please go ahead and remove the premium bundle from stadsdorpspomp.wordpress.com.

    Done!

Does this mean that I no longer have any account at wordpress.com?

There are a few more upgrades on your account currently (on gdejager2014.wordpress.com):

    – WordPress Premium

    – Domain for stadsdorpweteringplus.nl

Would you like me to remove those as well? Just to clarify, WordPress.com accounts cannot be deleted. Once we remove all upgrades though, you will not be charged moving forward. If you no longer need the individual sites on your account (stadsdorpspomp.wordpress.com and gdejager2014.wordpress.com), I can help you delete those!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Yes Jeremey

I donot use any longer the accounts at wordpress.com bec i moved everything to siteground. So plse go ahead and delete the individual sites on my accounts (stadsdorpspomp.wordpress.com and gdejager2014.wordpress.com).

    Thanks!

I removed all of the upgrades for you! You won’t be charged moving forward. If you would like, you can delete your two sites following the steps here:

    Delete a Website

If you have any trouble, please let me know!
