Transfer of ownership for site.

    I need assistance with transferring ownership of a site.
    I recently assisted with transferring a WordPress site from one hosting provider to my own Azure tenant. This was to assist a friend, as their existing host was not going to continue hosting the site. As part of the transfer, I somehow became owner of the site. This is causing problems, and as I am not the legal owner of the site, I need to transfer ownership back.

    According to the guide at https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/ transferring ownership of a site with plugins enabled requires direct involvement from WordPress. That leads me here, which appears to be a forum post. So how can I get in contact with someone from WordPress to transfer the ownership?

    Just to clarify things, there are three different versions of “WordPress” that you should be aware of:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.

    The good news is that since you are using the open-source version of the WordPress platform, which functions differently from what we offer on WordPress.com, you can find help at the community forums:
