Transfer of statistics to self-hosted WordPress site

  We are moving our blog to WordPress.org and I would like to make sure our statistics are transferred. I have read that I need WordPress.com support to do this for me. Can you tell me what I need to do?

  It is not possible to transfer statistics, but you can continue to view the historial statistics through the WordPress.com site and then you can setup Jetpack Site Stats to continue using the same system for stats on your new setup. See http://jetpack.me/ for more details.

  Really? No export / import function? Any reason for such a limitation? Certainly technically possible I’d imagine – some strange business reason not to do it?

  We currently do not have a tool for transferring site stats. However, I’ve passed your suggestion along to our team for future updates. It is an idea that’s on our radar :)
