Transfer old blog posts into new site

  I need to transfer my posts from an old site to a new site I am building. I downloaded the xml file but it did not include any of the post information. I need help asap please!

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there,

  Please provide the URLs for the source and destination blogs. In other words, where is the original site where you created your export, and where is the new site that you are importing the content? Are they both WordPress sites?

  The original blog is on wordpress.com. The new site is on GoDaddy.

  I was told that I need an sql file instead of an xml file, but this is not an option on my dashboard > export.

  You will not be able to download an sql file from WordPress.com. Are you creating a new WordPress site hosted on GoDaddy? If so, you would use the .xml file to import your site into your new WordPress installation on your new hosting.

  GoDaddy has told me that the xml file format is not going to work so I am at a loss on where to go from here. However, I do appreciate your help with this inquiry. Have a great night!

  What kind of blog are you setting up on GoDaddy? Is it a WordPress site? If so, once you have installed WordPress on your hosting account, you most certainly can use a .xml file to import your blog into your new WordPress site on GoDaddy.

  If it’s NOT a WordPress site but something else, however, you might need a different kind of export file.
