Transfer or map domain?

Hi! I have a domain I bought through hostgator and I want to start my site here in wordpress. I don’t know what is my best option at this moment since my professional e-mail is linked to the account I bought the domain with hostgator.

Is the email currently hosted through Hostgator or do you use another service like GSuite? Basically we’d just want to make sure you’ll have ongoing service, then configure the domain here so it will point to that service.
Also, note Hostgator will let you install a free copy of WordPress there if you want to. It just wouldn’t come with our services, so you’d use the community forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ instead.
