Transfer or map domain?
-
I’m brand new at creating a website. When I setup my new business G-Suite account, I also established my website name so that I could secure it. Now that I’m trying to build the website through WordPress, it’s asking if I want to transfer from G-Suite or map my domain…can someone help me choose the best option!? Thank you!!

Hi @foxvdm ,
Welcome to the exciting world of website creations! And welcome to WordPress.com!
As it currently stands, you own a domain, which is taken care of by Google. At the same time, you are about to build a site at WordPress.com. So, all billing enquiries and other aspects of managing your domain are done with Google, while the content of your site and any paid plans you want at WordPress.com will be managed here.
If you choose to map your domain, then this separated approach will continue: domain managed at Google, site managed at WordPress. If you choose to transfer your domain, then the billing and management of both domain and site can be conducted right here at WordPress.com. The approach you take will not affect the experience your viewers will have when they visit your site. It is more a preference of how you want to manage your online assets.
That is the gist to the answer of your question. However, there are a few other details you need to be aware of when choosing which approach you will take. The following support documentations should give you a bit more information.
