transfer or map domain

hello. Im very new to this. Im wondering if it is better to transfer a domain from GoDaddy to WP or just map the domain.

It depends on your preference really. This is found in the support pages explaining the difference:
Do I need a mapping upgrade or a transfer?
There are two options to connect a domain:Transfer the registration. Your domain registration and billing will be moved from your current domain provider to WordPress.com. That means in future you’ll manage all aspects of your domain here, including renewal, cancellation, or a future transfer.
Map the domain. Your domain registration will stay with your current provider, and you’ll point the domain to WordPress.com instead. Use this if your domain is less than 60 days old, or you have a domain extension that cannot be transferred to WordPress.com. The domain will show your WordPress.com site, and depending on how you point it here you’ll be able to set up email and manage your DNS via our domain manager, but you’ll still need to pay your current provider for the domain’s renewal every year.You will need an upgraded plan to move your domain over.
