Transfer or map domain name?

    Hi!
    I just bought a new domain name under g-suites called sophix.com registered with godaddy.

    i would like to use this domain name for the sophix.wordpress.com site.

    Would it be better to transfer my domain to wordpress? or map it instead? Which is more cost effective?

    I use gsuite for my email needs.

    Appreciate your advice.

    Hi Ariel,

    Transferring is more cost-effective, as that means we take over the registration and you pay only us for using the domain. If you map it, you need to pay us for a plan to connect the domain here, and you need to pay GoDaddy to renew the domain each year.

    However, as you only just bought this domain you won’t be able to transfer it yet. New domains cannot be transferred for a period of 60 days after purchase, no matter where you bought it.

    So even if you want to transfer, you’ll need to map the domain first for now. Then you can start the transfer in two months’ time at no additional cost – that will still be covered by the plan you buy in order to map the domain here.
