Transfer or map domain to WordPress?

My website is currently built in another CMS and hosted by 1&1. Am I better off transferring or mapping over my domain?
I’d like the simplest, cheapest option!

I also have a 1&1 email account linked to the contact form on my site, so would need to keep that.

    Hi

Using the Domain Mapping service means that you associate your domain with your WordPress.com site, but you renew the domain at your registrar (where you bought the domain), and renew your site plan here at WordPress.com.

Using the Domain Transfer service means that your domain’s registration is moved over to WordPress.com and we then become your registrar, so all future renewals of your domain and plan for your WordPress.com site are managed and paid on your WordPress.com account.

Thank you. If I used the mapping service, could I keep the 1&1 email account linked to the contact form on my site?

I would want the contact form to keep its existing address, and would need to keep all email folders etc.
