transfer or map my domain
-
Hello,
I am setting up a new wordpress website that I aiming to turn into a fully functioned ecommerce site for my business with Woo Commerce. I am fairly tech savvy and have set up my blog site on weebly which I will need to extract the content from to import into the new wordpress site. However, I already have a custom domain which I registered at the same time as my trademark. I currently pay about £12 a year for it through namecheap. So as I try to set up a wordpress site it asks me what I want to do with my domain, either transfer it or map it. Although it seems to suggest the I would be a free years renewal if I transferred to wordpress, it would cost me more in the long run as they charge £15 a year. Is there any real benefit to transferring as I have to try and save every penny at the moment? Any thoughts on this would be great. Many thanks

Hi there, you’re welcome to keep the domain where it is and just map it:
http://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/Please note, though, to run WooCommerce on our services, you would have to have our Business or eCommerce plan:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/This service includes SSL, direct WordPress support, maintenance, security, and many other features that tend to cost extra with other providers.
Or, you are welcome to use your own free copy of WordPress with another host, and use community resources or hired contractors as needed. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
