Transfer questions!

Hi!
I’m looking for advice with regards my transfer to a self hosted blog. Firstly, as I plan to only run this blog, should I now delete my .wordpress.com blog. Secondly, are the likes on this blog a dead loss, I know one can transfer followers, but I’m assuming not likes to a post…

I would not delete the .wordpress.com blog. I would make it private and periodically export and import so I had a backup blog on completely different servers on a completely different service. To change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

Thanks for the advice – my main concern arose from the fact that when I posted to my .org blog I received no views or likes. However, when I then posted an identical post to my .com blog I got the likes and interactions etc despite using the same tags… Is this indicative that I’m doing something wrong?

WordPress.org sites are stand alone sites that are not a part of the WordPress.com blogging community. The posts are not automatically posted on the WordPress.com Topics (categories and tags) pages like the posts from WordPress.com blogs are.
