Hello –
Thanks for reaching out to us. We can help you get this set up and answer any questions that you have along the way.
First, you’ll want to decide which hosting plan is appropriate for each project. That’s going to give you the price. Each site needs their own hosting plan. Take a look here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
-
Thanks for your response. So this will be 2 different plan and not a single site?
I was checking, if I can host both the site (as the main domain remains same) under single business plan?
If that is not possible, then can I go for 1 premium and 1 business pla under same user account? Or both the account will be separate? Also, hope we can use multipe user roles in wp-admin console for our editor and auhors?
Sorry for shooting so many questions. Atually, a small call before the migratin would helped us.

Howdy –
If the second domain is linked to the primary domain and hosting plan, then you don’t need a separate hosting plan for that second domain. You could add it for $18/year.
If the second domain is going to be it’s own individual site, then it would need a hosting plan as well for it.
Does that help?
can I go for 1 premium and 1 business pla under same user account?
You’re able to run multiple sites, and plans, from the same account. That’s no problem.
Also, hope we can use multipe user roles in wp-admin console for our editor and auhors?
Yes, multiple user roles can be added to the site.
All of our support is through online channels. Here in the forums, email, live chat. Once you get the hosting plans added to your account the live chat option will be really helpful to get more real-time answers for these questions. For the time being, keep asking us here. We’re always close by and more than happy to help.

Thank you very much. This clarifies a lot.

To be clear – https://sobbanglay.com and https://lekhalikhi.sobbanglay.com – both should be considered as linked right? Our primary domain is sobbanglay.com – so we need to pay $18 for lekhalikhi.sobbanglay.com. Right?
Can you please send me some link/docs for steps to do the migration from self hosted wordress site (free wordpress installation) to wordpress.com? What are the dependencies we should check – mainly on theme/plugin etc?

That’s a good question. When I look at the 2 different domains, they load unique sites. Do you intend to keep that structure? Or do you want to have both domains load the same site?
I would suggest reading this page about how the imports work and you can see the different options available to you. Then let’s talk about the questions you have after going through that information. https://wordpress.com/support/import/
My suggestion is to set up the new site(s) and then connect the domains once the migration is done. This will limit your downtime and any seo confusion.
-
Thank you again.
Do you intend to keep that structure? Or do you want to have both domains load the same site?
Yes, we want to keep the structure as the content types are different in the sites. If there is any option of subdomain within wordpress we would like to explore just by importing the contents from the lekhalikhi.sobbanglay.com. In our domain provider we are getting this subdomain as free.
Link is good for the importing things but I need more details on moving the domain from goDaddy to wordpress.com. Also, we have cloudflare, how we will move those settings? OR we don’t need to migrate them at all.
Also, it seems I have to upgrade the wordpress first as the jetpac version necessary is not supported in our WP (5.8).
My suggestion is to set up the new site(s) and then connect the domains once the migration is done. This will limit your downtime and any seo confusion.
This is a great suggestion. However, how can we achieve that – like how can I migrate everything and test them? And once satisfied, will just connect the domains. If you can put some light on it will be great.

Hi, clarifying one thing we missed:
Our primary domain is sobbanglay.com – so we need to pay $18 for lekhalikhi.sobbanglay.com. Right?
Actually no. $18 is the cost of a domain name. You wouldn’t have to pay for a subdomain, but you would need to cover the cost of whatever services you use with it. And each site needs hosting.
On our services you need a plan for each site, since our service goes beyond hosting: you get backups, spam protecting, direct support (included with paid plans), maintenance, security, etc. The plan you choose for each site would depend on what you need for it.
We don’t currently have any multi-site plans. There are other hosts that do let you have multiple sites on a single account. Just bear in mind you’ll need to take care of management, backups. etc. We have more info here:
https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/So right now the price would start at $48 x 2 per year. You can keep the domain registered with the current provider (and pay them yearly), or you can transfer it here free for the first year, then $18/year thereafter.
Does that help?

Thank you for your clarification.
On the migration steps, I have upgraded my wordpress site and also installed latest jetpack version.
However, I have a concern on pricing –
When I check https://wordpress.com/pricing/ – I see Business plan is Rs 640 /month which is nearly $8 per month (₹640 per month, billed yearly). However when I am trying to check-out for my site I am getting $300 i.e. $25 per month. Why there is so much difference?
Note -I am not moving the domain provder (goDaddy) so the domain cost is not added here.

Awesome. It sounds like that was a smooth process.

For clarification, near the top of https://wordpress.com/pricing/ there is a toggle option to select
Monthly - Yearly. When you view the business plan with theyearlyoption that works out to be $25/month versus if you pay for the plan by the month it is more expensive and we bill you $40/month instead of the $300 for the year. The price difference betweenmonthly - yearlybusiness plan is $180 savings when you pay for the year up front.Does this clarify the difference in pricing that you’ve seen?
-
Actually, the calculation does not match. I am talking onyearly plan only.
As per the link it shows Rs 640 per month (on the yearly payment terms) i.e. I have to pay Rs 7680 + taxes if any.
However when I am addig it in cart, the value shows $300 i.e. Rs 24500 + taxes if any.
This is a huge difference and misleading too. We thought of migrating to wordpress.com hosting only after seeing the cost given in the link – https://wordpress.com/pricing/
I don’t get any option to send you the screenshot and show the difference!
-
Hello there,
A screenshot can be shared via a link from https://snipboard.io/
It sounds like you may be added the monthly plan to the basket.. but let’s take a look at the screenshots so we can assist further.
-
Please refer the screen shot -> https://snipboard.io/kmyQ5N.jpg
I have marked the plan I am referring here, which shows Rs. 640. -
Hi, I’ve changed your account’s currency to INR, and now the prices are correctly displayed on your cart and checkout page.
-
Thank you for making the changes. I have purchased the Business plan.
I may need several help for the mgration for which I believe I will get live chat support.Apart from that,1 last question related to this purchase – I have already domain registered with goDaddy till 2024. I see there is 1 year free domain with my plan as well. So if I migrate the domain hosting as well – what will be my domain expiry in wordpress.com hosting?

If you do need support, you can of course send a message here to be directed to Live Chat:

We typically renew a domain for one additional year, when transferring it in (using that “free domain in first year” offer). Due to this, if you transfer the domain registration to WordPress.com, then the domain is normally renewed until 2025.
It’s also mentioned in the “before you start” notes of our domain transfer guide here, in case this can be helpful:
