That “Site Tools” option along with the ability to delete a site no longer displays for me in the traditional wp admin dashboard. Sometimes I despair of wordpress.com :(

hi – checked that out but this is what i see – notice there is no panel to click on to transfer the site

How odd. I assume you are the admin of the site? Here is a screenshot of my dashboard. Lets tag this for a member of staff.

I assume you are talking about a WordPress.com site such as
https://mapuawaterfront.wordpress.com/ ? A site hosted elsewhere that won’t have that option.

yes definitely a wordpress.com site – url as above. And yes I am an administrator and have been for several years. I’d love to be able to make contact with a member of wordpress.com staff. But how does one do this? Are you able to “tag” this in some way to draw it to the attention of a wordpress staff member

Your forum post is flagged for Staff.
While I’m not staff, are you sure you’re logged into the site owner account? The Gravatar displayed in your screenshot is not this one that appears here in the forums.

I think @2020testjj has nailed it. It is the OWNER of a site that will have that option rather than an Admin (presuming there are more than one Admins). It will no doubt be the portraitmapua account that can make those changes.

yes one needs to be the owner to trade ownership
i was able to tech down the owner: creator from 5 years ago and she traveled the site to me
