Transfer Site to new account

    I cannot follow the instructions on https://wordpress.com/support/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/. It says to ask here how to ‘Please transfer the domain(s) first and then contact us for help to move the site to the new owner.’
    How do I do this?

    The site I need help with is synchronicitymetal.com. It is not hosted by WordPress.com, but it is connected with Jetpack.

    Hi there,

    The link you were following is for transferring a WordPress.com site to another WordPress.com account. You don’t have any WordPress.com sites connected to this account. Your site at synchronicitymetal.com is hosted elsewhere and is connected to your WordPress.com account via the Jetpack plugin. Are you trying to change the Jetpack connection from this WordPress.com account to another?

    Hi aisajib,

    I was managing the website for a band, however I am leaving so want to hand over ownership of the site. I have a wordpress account under my name and personal email, so am seeking to either
    – Transfer the website to another member’s account
    – Edit my account so they have access (change email, passwords, etc.)

    I tried changing emails first but I receive an error “email already in use”.

    I then tried following the transfer site tutorial, but don’t get an option to transfer account as shown in the tutorial

    Hi there,

    As I mentioned, you don’t have a WordPress.com site on this account, so you can’t follow the instructions for transferring a WordPress.com site.

    If you were trying to transfer https://synchronicitymetal.com/ note that it’s not a WordPress.com site. It’s a self-hosted WordPress.org site connected to the WordPress.com account via the Jetpack plugin.

    If you’d like to hand over the account, you can update the account email address so that the new owner can reset the password and log in. However, you’ll need to use a different email address. If the email address you’re using is already in use on another account, you can’t use that again. Please ask the new owner for a different email address they own and use that on your WordPress.com account.

    Once you have the new email address, you can follow the instructions here to update the email address on this account: https://wordpress.com/support/email-address/

    A few things to note here:

    * The username of your account can be changed by following this: https://wordpress.com/support/change-your-username/ – however, note that you won’t be able to reuse the current username in the future.
    * The email address needs to be confirmed before it’s changed on the account.
