Transfer stats

Hi! Is it possible to transfer my stats from creatingforjoy.wordpress.com to fefferknits.wordpress.com? I have exported from and will be disabling the first address. Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Stats earned by a site are attributed to that site URL only. They cannot be moved to any other site.

Other responses from staff on this topic seem to imply otherwise, when the site is being transferred to a new domain.

That is exactly why I tagged this thread with modlook.

In the situation of transferring stats for a domain ie. to a wordpress.ORG install from a wordpress.COM site the Jetpack plugin can be used to make the move.

However, this is a case of a request to move stats from one .wordpress.com sub domain URL to another wordpress.COM sub domain URL and that’s different kettle of fish.

Example: If I chose to fancy another wp.com sub domain URL, register it as a brand new site, and transfer content into it from an older wp.com URL ie. content that had earned years worth of traffic stats into a new site that would be a no go.

Moreover, if I did that transfer without purchasing a site upgrade https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/ then every original link to the content transferred no matter where it appeared on the internet would be broken and the new site would start from scratch when it came to page ranking and search engine positioning.

  • Hi there,

It is indeed possible to manually transfer stats between WordPress.com sites. I have moved the stats as requested.

Thanks for your response that I will not be forgetting any time soon. lol :D

(What follows is said in a kind way as if we were enjoying having dinner and a glass of wine together.)

Oh really? Then theoretically I can I can register a new site just because it has a cooler name and transfer my content into it. Then I can have Staff transfer my 10 years of stats earned my the first URL to it, without purchasing a site redirect. Then I can feel all warm and fuzzy about that. That will compliment the warm and fuzzy feeling that accrue to clicking like buttons and failing to compose meaningful contents on posts right on the sites they are published on, which many of us old timers refer to new age blogging blindness.

    re: the relevant subject matter
When would I learn that due to my vain need for a new cooler blog address and reluctance to purchase a site redirect upgrade, that all the original links on the internet and when linked to in other sites and in my internal structure, earned under the first URL and appearing in search engine results when clicked will produce 404 page not found errors?

When will I learn that those who linked to the posts that earned the page rank under the original URLs are now all broken links? When will I learn that all internal links within the content transferred will also be broken links? When will I learn that I killed my traffic flow for at least 3 months, if not longer, due to my vain need for a cooler blog address?

So pardon me for being unable to ascertain a cogent reason for this weirdness. And, why on Earth would I thank Staff for making the the move that solely panders to my vanity re: a new cooler name when I have learned dick sh-t about anything like page ranking and search engine search results that really counts?

My questions are rhetorical, of course as both you and I know all about what actually counts. lol :D

All stats are is a recording of how many views your content has. It’s data that is completely internal to WordPress.com and has no bearing on how discoverable your site is, how people get to it, etc. So I don’t really understand why allowing people to do it would be a problem.

Yes, when changing a site address one should set up redirects and be aware of the impact it has on search engine indexing, but that is not really related to site stats which are just historic traffic data.
