Transfer stats from old blog
-
Hello,
Our department would like to delete or hide our old blog (macombctl.wordpress.com) so it will stop ranking higher in Google Search than our current blog (ctl.emacomb.com). However, before doing so, we would like to transfer all of our old stats to our new blog. Is this possible?
Please advise,

Provided you have installed and activated the JetPack plugin http://jetpack.me on your WordPress.org install, and you post the relevant URL(s) into a forum thread, Staff will do the transfer of both subscribers and stats for you. Do that now please as I have tagged this thread for their attention.
To delete a free hosted WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered a blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click. Once clicked the URL is gone forever.

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blog content and deleting blogs does not remove any indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months.

Thank you!
JetPack is downloaded. We would like to transfer all stats from http://www.macombctl.wordpress.com to http://www.ctl.emacomb.com.
Please contact us if with any questions or concerns.

Hi there!
I went ahead and transferred your old site’s stats to the newer one at “www.ctl.emacomb.com”. Can you check your Stats panel and see if everything looks ok?
Apart from timethief’s suggestion, you also have the option to discourage search engines from indexing your old blog or make it private. Go to Settings -> Reading in your dashboard to access these settings:
https://macombctl.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php
For more on Site Visibility Options, check out our support page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/#site-visibility-options
Let me reiterate that editing these settings will not produce immediate effects on the search engine results. Please allow 3-6 months for your site to be completely removed from their cache.
Let me know if you have more questions or concerns. Thanks!
Cheers,
Andrew D.

Andrew,
Thank you for all your help! Yes, I checked our site’s stats – it shows views dating back to 2011, which are all from our old blog.
And I absolutely appreciate the directions on how to hide our old blog. We’ve taken the steps necessary to do so, and look forward to seeing the search results change in a few months’ time.
(Thank you again, timethief, for properly tagging this post so it was seen by a staff member!)
Best regards,
