Transfer subscribers from WordPress.com to WordPress.org
-
I just moved my site from WordPress.com to WordPress.org, plus changed domain names. I need my subscribers moved over. The old domain is jennifersuchey.com (or jennifersuchey.wordpress.com) and the new is blissfulmiss.com.
Can both email and wordpress subscribers be moved?
Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes if you have installed Jetpack then staff can do the move for you. Please confirm that you have Jetpack. Subscribe to this topic so you’ll be notified of a response.

Hi there,
I would be glad to move your subscribers over to your new site for you. You can install the Jetpack plugin on your new site by going to Plugins > Add New and then type “Jetpack” into the search box. Once you have it installed, connect to your WordPress.com jennifersuchey account and then post back here and I’ll move your subscribers over.

Thank you. I already have the Jetpack plugin. I’m not sure what you mean about connecting with my WordPress.com jennifersuchey account. When I go to my former site name jennifersuchey.wordpress.com, it takes me directly to my new site, blissfulmiss.com.
When I click on “my blogs”, it shows an old blog of mine and Blissful Miss. It actually shows two links to it.

Hi,
I’ve fixed it so that you can now get to the dashboard of jennifersuchey.wordpress.com without getting redirected.
While logged into your account here, go to the dashboard of your new self-hosted site and in the left navigation near the top, go to Jetpack > JetpackT At the upper right of that page, click on Connect to WordPress.com and then allow Jetpack to connect to your WordPress.com account. That will link your Jetpack to your account here and then I can transfer your subscribers for you.
If you have any problems, please let me know.

It appears to be already connected. I went to that page before, so I must have connected it then.

Hi,
I’m still not seeing blissfulmiss.com listed in your account here. Can you disconnect Jetpack and then reconnect it? That should correct things.
I’ll watch for your reply

Oops! I was logged in under my daughter’s account. ;)
I disconnected and reconnected Jetpack.

Hi Jennifer,
Sorry for the problems, but we are on the home stretch now. I found your Jetpack connected to krissgrace.wordpress.com instead of jennifersuchey.wordpress.com (jennifersuchey.com), so we need to disconnect it from that account and connect it to the right one.
If you want the subscribers transferred from jennifersuchey.wordpress.com (jennifersuchey.com):
1. log into krissgrace.wordpress.com, go to blissfulmiss.com and disconnect Jetpack
2. log out of krissgrace.wordpress.com
3. log into jennifersuchey.wordpress.com
4. go to the dashboard of blissfulmiss.com and reconnect jetpackLet me know when you have done that and I’ll transfer your subscribers.
Looking forward to your reply,

Wow. Okay. I did all the steps you gave me.
When I logged into krissgrace.wordpress.com and clicked on “my blogs”, after the krissgrace blog was blissfulmiss. As in my new self hosted site, not the version that is currently on wordpress.com. I can’t even imagine how admin control for my wordpress.org site got onto my daughter’s wordpress.com account.
I just helped her create her first blog on Sunday, but she created her own account on her own computer, so it’s very puzzling. I assume you can take it off her account?
Thanks for all your doing to help me.

Hi there,
Sorry, I wish I could, but I can’t move it over for you, but don’t worry, we’ll get there! Do you have a second browser installed on your computer, perhaps one that you have not used to connect to your new site?
-
-
Yes, I can use another browser. What do you want me to do? I haven’t replied in a while because my site was down all day yesterday and today, so I’ve been focused on that when I had time to do anything about it. It’s back up now.
-
That’s great. In the new browser, sign into the WordPress.com account that has the blog you want the subscribers transferred from.
Now log into your new self-hosted blog, go to Jetpack > Jetpack and disconnect it by clicking the button at the upper right. After you click and confirm, it should change and say “Connect to WordPress.com”
Now click the “Connect to WordPress.com” button and make sure it says it is going to connect to the correct username account and then connect.
Let me know when you have done that and I’ll get your subscribers transferred.

Yay! We have success and I’ve moved your followers from jennifersuchey.wordpress.com to blissfulmiss.com for you.
Please let us know if we can help with anything else.
