Transfer to .com from .org, but do it all before flipping the switch
-
I have a very popular and widely read blog I’ve self-hosted for years at http://www.thefrontsteps.com. I’d like to transfer it over, and I’d like to buy the bundle package of $99/year including domain mapping. However, I don’t want to “flip the switch” until I see it all up and running and looking top notch. How can I accomplish this and get that bundle pricing? I’ve checked all of your forum topics and see how to transfer, but nothing there about getting the good price, and doing it all after I see it all working.
I would be creating a new blog on .com, and bringing theFrontSteps over. It is separate from the blog thegoods415.
thanks,
alexThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Before you take any steps at all please read this comparison > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
See here for details of all 3 plans http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/
Note that none of the plans allow you to run advertising or to upload your own themes or plugins. WordPress.com blogs cannot be equipped for eCommerce transactions with shopping carts and online stores. If you need a site that requires a custom theme or plugins — e.g., if you want to be able to sell things directly from your site, or if you want to install discussion forums .
Here’s what gets a free hosted WordPress.com blog suspended:

You can export your content and import it into a new WordPress.com site for free, and see how that goes, before worrying about purchasing the bundle upgrade or possibly a premium theme.
If you want it to be part of your thegoods415 account, you can simply create a new blog. If you want it to be separate, you can log out of WordPress.com, create a new account, and go from there. (Please note your different usernames and passwords if you do that as it can lead to confusion later otherwise).
Once you’re satisfied that all of your content made it through the export/import process, you can set up the Premium upgrade along with a custom domain if you want to map thefrontsteps.com to your new WordPress.com site.
