Transfer to Self Host
-
Hi, I’ve recently started a blog and am looking to change it up to a self-hosted blog. I cannot do this for another 2 weeks or so, and am wondering about the transfer process. I know there an option to export and import the content, but after I do, what do I do with the content on WordPress.com? Will links from search engines etc redirect to my new host domain? Will I have to pay for this and if so how much?
Just wondering because if its going to be a hassle or its going to cost too much for such a small number of posts, I’m just going to wait the two weeks and start over I guess, which is not what I want to have to do. Thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello tjkollmeyer,
If you don’t want to start over, you can keep your WordPress.com site–but change the privacy setting to Hidden–and purchase a < a href=”https://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/”>site redirect upgrade. Cost: $13/year.
With the site redirect upgrade, be sure to pay attention to the instructions for permalink settings, as those are essential to getting what you expect.
If you haven’t seen it yet, here is < a href=”https://move.wordpress.com/”>a guide for moving to a self-hosted site that is worth a read. Good luck!
