Transfer to WordPress

  I have paid an it consultant to build a website for me. They have obviously used word press my domain name is registered to me and registered with synergy wholesale. My consultant has the password to access the account and hasn’t wont /pass it over. I have the password to access the domain name. How can I bypass the consultant and through wordpress take over my own web site or do I need to start from scratch?
