Transfer ‘.uk ‘ domain to wordpress.com?
-
I wish to transfer a ‘.uk ‘ domain to wordpress.com. For this, I need IPS tag for wordpress.com. While searching for this, I came across this topic https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/what-is-the-ips-tag-for-wordpress-com/. In there, it mentions that “…we are unable to accept incoming .UK domain transfers…“. This answer is 3 years old. Is this still the case?
Can ‘.uk’ domains be transferred to wordpress.com? If so, what is the correct IPS tag. The one provided by the chat bot does not work.)(I was hoping to transfer two or three domains to wordpress.com — domain registration, website hosting, email… — I now wonder if this is in fact possible. I expected to use a single provider for all services needed. Is it possible for ‘.uk’ domains?)

Hello there!
It makes perfect sense that you would want to keep everything under one roof for convenience, including email, hosting, and registration. To clarify, it’s still not possible to transfer
.ukdomains to WordPress.com. The information you found in that forum thread is still accurate. Because of special registry policies for.ukdomains, WordPress.com isn’t able to accept incoming transfers for them at this time, which is why there isn’t a usable IPS tag for WordPress.com.You can find the most up-to-date details here:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/tlds-with-special-policies/about-uk-domains/#transferring-to-wordpress-comThat said, you can still use your
.ukdomains with WordPress.com. While the domain registration itself needs to stay with your current registrar, you can connect the domain to your WordPress.com site and continue using email services alongside it. This allows you to keep your domain registered where it is while pointing it to your WordPress.com site. You can connect your domain using either of these methods:
• Standard connection method:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain/• Alternative connection method:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-a-domain-alternative-method/The alternative method is especially useful if you need to keep an existing email service running or if your domain registrar doesn’t allow name server changes.
